40 crore people lack health care across the world: WHO, World Bank
According to a report on healthcare released by World Health Organization (WHO) and World Bank, it is estimated that over 40 crore people lack access to atleast one of the seven essential health services , ranging from pregnancy care to clean water. At the same time, the number of people having access to these services has increased considerably.
The report suggested universal health coverage is an achievable goal and showed that progress has been made toward it. The aim has been controversial, particularly in some advanced nations including the United States, where debate persists over the structure, funding and feasibility of a universal program.
